Results: Novel MRI sequences

GLINT has compiled crucial new knowledge about the glucoCEST technique. Among others, a new data acquisition technique called snapshot-CEST was developed for fast and robust volumetric CEST imaging and the project partners improved the analytical equations of CEST quantification, which allow more accurate exchange rate determination of the glucoCEST signal.

The application of a new snapshot‐CEST sequence for fast imaging acquisition in the human brain at 9.4 T has shown excellent image quality in amide and nuclear Overhauser enhancement (NOE), and enables guanidyl CEST detection. It establishes a fast and robust volumetric CEST approach ready for the imaging of known and novel exchange‐weighted contrasts at ultra-high field.

Additionally, a 3D gradient echo snapshot CEST MRI was optimised for low‐power CEST MRI for human studies at 3T. The GLINT project has thus provided a sophisticated CEST tool ready for clinical application and tested it for feasibility.
